As a core hospital in the western part of Kanagawa Prefecture, dermatology specialized examinations and treatments to meet the medical needs of patients, from common skin diseases such as eczema and tinea pedis to serious skin diseases such as benign and malignant skin tumors (skin cancers), psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, drug eruptions, autoimmune bullous diseases, and collagen diseases, while working in collaboration with nearby hospitals and clinics.
In addition to providing medical care, university hospitals have other roles to play, including education, training, and research. Based on our hospital's philosophy, we strive to cultivate physicians with rich character, a broad perspective, and a sense of mission rooted in humanism. At the same time, we are particularly focused on research in the fields of psoriasis, cutaneous immunology, alopecia, and wound treatment, and have reported our findings both domestically and internationally.

Treatment details
In our outpatient clinic, we have established specialized dermatology for intractable skin diseases such as psoriasis, palmoplantar pustulosis, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia, where we select examinations and treatments tailored to each individual's symptoms. In particular, our psoriasis clinic offers not only conventional topical therapy but also phototherapy such as NB-UVB and bath PUVA, low-dose oral immunosuppressant therapy, and new treatments using biological agents and small molecule compounds. In our other specialized clinics as well, we strive to always provide the latest and most effective treatments.
Additionally, our department is one of the national research organizations that conducts numerous clinical trials of new drugs for psoriasis, autoimmune bullous diseases, etc. We will consider the effectiveness of treatment using new drugs in consultation with your doctor.

Main medical achievements
Outpatient Treatment: Our department sees an average of 100-150 outpatients per day. Outpatient examinations include fungal testing, skin allergy tests such as patch tests and photopatch tests, photoexamination, dermoscopy, and skin biopsies. We also perform minor outpatient surgery for nevi and benign skin tumors, depending on their size and location. We also offer specialized phototherapy, including NB-UVB and bath PUVA, for psoriasis, palmoplantar pustulosis, vitiligo, mycosis fungoides, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia areata.
Regarding inpatient treatment: If skin diseases worsen, we provide the following treatments, for example: Pustular psoriasis: Inpatient systemic management and immunosuppressants, oral steroid treatment; Autoimmune bullous disease: Plasmapheresis, Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy (IVIg); Severe drug eruption: Steroid pulse therapy, plasmapheresis, Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy (IVIg); Severe alopecia areata: Steroid pulse therapy, etc.
