Blood Bank

Greetings

Blood Bank is located on the first basement floor of the hospital building and is staffed by 18 people, including one physician certified by the Japanese Society of Transfusion Medicine and Cell Therapy and the Japanese Society of Autologous Blood Transfusion, and 10 technicians certified by the Japanese Society of Transfusion Medicine and Cell Therapy, who are engaged in transfusion-related work. Blood Bank performs testing, management, storage, and retrieval to provide patients with safe and appropriate transfusions and hematopoietic stem cell transplants. In addition to testing, we also perform autologous blood collection for patients undergoing elective surgery, and we work in cooperation with various departments, prioritizing patient safety in our daily operations. If you have any questions regarding transfusions, transplant medicine, or regenerative medicine products, please visit Blood Bank directly or contact the hospital's main office.

Overview

Blood Bank is responsible for transfusion testing (blood type, irregular antibody, cross-matching, etc.) performed when patients require transfusions, as well as the management, storage, and retrieval of blood products for transfusion. Furthermore, it handles autologous blood collection for patients undergoing elective surgery, testing of hematopoietic stem cells contained in bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, and peripheral blood, processing of bone marrow fluid, and collection, cryopreservation, and thawing of peripheral blood stem cells and lymphocytes for DLI/CAR-T therapy. Blood Bank is committed to providing patients with safe and appropriate blood products, transplant cells, and regenerative medicine products, and therefore invests in personnel training and a robust quality control system, repeatedly performing verification checks. Many patients require transfusions and transplants, and we work daily in cooperation with physicians in Clinics and staff from other departments to provide each and every patient with safe transfusion and transplant care.
