Pulmonary Care Center

Greetings

At Pulmonary Care Center, we work daily to standardize and optimize respiratory care within the hospital. In the treatment of critically ill patients, primarily those with respiratory failure, and postoperative patients, proper artificial ventilation management influences prognosis and is related to the quality of medical care. We aim to work with attending physicians to provide evidence-based medical support regarding the indication, introduction, maintenance, and withdrawal of artificial ventilation management.

Overview

The Respiratory Care Team breaks down barriers between departments and professions, and includes physicians, nurses, clinical engineers, physical therapists, dental hygienists, and medical affairs staff. We work together to provide clinical support for appropriate ventilator use and weaning anywhere in the hospital. Determining the appropriate use of ventilators and their appropriate use requires a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of each disease, various devices, and sedation and analgesia. To this end, the multidisciplinary committee mentioned above leverages and integrates the expertise of each profession to provide support for safe patient care. Ventilators are also used across a wide range of acute illnesses, including not only respiratory failure but also circulatory failure, loss of consciousness, and other forms of multiple organ failure in the intensive care of critically ill patients. Therefore, we strive to provide safe medical care, including earlier response, such as the use of ventilators in the event of a sudden change in a patient's condition, not only in Intensive Care Unit but also in general wards.
