Greetings
Obstetrics and Gynecology is a medical department that plays a role in improving women's health throughout their lives, along the vertical axis of the passage of life time. Obstetrics and Gynecology have four major fields: perinatal care, infertility and reproduction, gynecological oncology, and women's health care, all of which are mutually linked. This department has the experts in each field, who work together to provide patients with the latest and most optimal treatments based on our hospital's philosophy. In addition, each staff member actively participates in education, and we are committed to cultivating the next generation of leaders. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to our doctors or medical staff.

Treatment details
Gynecological tumors
The Gynecological Oncology section utilizes the latest medical technology to treat patients, led by gynecological oncologists and certified endoscopic technicians. Our department boasts one of the best records of gynecological cancer treatment in Japan and is a leader in the field. For uterine cancer, cervical cancer, and other cancers, we actively employ minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted surgery, and sentinel lymph node biopsy, to safely support patients' rapid recovery. We also provide advanced surgical treatments for ovarian cancer and recurrent cancer, and offer a wide range of multidisciplinary treatment options, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In addition to clinical guideline-based treatment, we offer cancer genome testing and actively participate in clinical trials to provide personalized, cutting-edge treatments andmedical technologies. Our mission is to consistently provide the best possible medical care by developing optimal treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Obstetrics
The obstetrics section is open to all women wishing to give birth. We also have Center for Comprehensive Perinatal Medicine, which provides care for high-risk pregnant women with complications. We have been providing painless delivery for over 30 years. We also offer husband-present births, so please feel free to consult with us. Pregnancy and delivery involve certain risks for all women. Aiming for a safe and secure pregnancy and delivery, our obstetrics department utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and works closely with related departments, including Department of pediatrics, Anesthesiology, and Pediatric Surgery, to provide advanced perinatal care. For example, one in 200 to 300 women experience severe bleeding during childbirth. Even in such cases, we have a system in place to provide immediate life-saving blood transfusions and systemic management. And, we collaborate with Department of Diagnostic Imaging to provide endovascular therapy (IVR) to control bleeding. As Center for Comprehensive Perinatal Medicine, we also actively accept patients with severe conditions transferred from nearby medical institutions.
Recently, we have also been actively involved in preconception care (pre-conception consultations and medical interventions regarding pregnancy and delivery), and we accept consultations for those who are worried about becoming pregnant or those who have complications. Regarding prenatal diagnosis, we provide counseling and testing in cooperation with Department of Genetics. For more detailed information on our medical services, please see Center for Comprehensive Perinatal Medicine page.
Reproduction/endocrine
The Family Planning section provides comprehensive medical care related to infertility treatment. In addition to general infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, we also provide testing and treatment for patients diagnosed with intractable infertility or patients with medical complications. Our infertility treatments range from timing therapy and artificial insemination to time-lapse in vitro fertilization (including intracytoplasmic sperm injection). We propose the optimal treatment plan based on evidence for each individual's situation and determine the treatment method, considering each patient's preferences. As part of our infertility treatment, we primarily perform endoscopic (hysteroscopic and laparoscopic) surgery when uterine myomas, endometriosis, or other factors are suspected to be the cause of infertility. We also actively perform endoscopic surgery for congenital reproductive abnormalities such as a septate uterus and vaginal agenesis.
Main target diseases
Gynecological tumors
Endometrial cancer: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological cancer and is increasing year by year. In recent years, treatment using laparoscopic surgery and robotic-assisted surgery has become more common, and our hospital is proactively treating patients who require extensive lymph node dissection. For advanced and recurrent cancer, in addition to anticancer drug treatment, molecular targeted therapy such as immune checkpoint inhibitors has also been introduced.
Cervical cancer: Cervical cancer is mainly caused by human papillomavirus infection, and can affect relatively young people as well. Depending on the stage of progression, surgical therapy, radiation therapy (concurrent chemoradiotherapy), or chemotherapy is selected. Laparoscopic treatment (laparoscopic radical hysterectomy) is being carried out through participation in clinical trials. For advanced and recurrent cancer, multidisciplinary radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and molecular targeted therapy are also being introduced.
Ovarian cancer: For advanced ovarian cancer with peritoneal dissemination, we provide both surgical and drug therapy based on the latest evidence. In recent years, the introduction of maintenance therapy (molecular targeted drugs) after initial treatment has dramatically improved prognosis. Our hospital's surgical treatment also focuses on complex surgeries (extended surgeries) including combined resections of the intestine, etc. Risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome is provided within health insurance treatment.
Obstetrics
We handle normal deliveries and high-risk pregnancy management (abnormalities during pregnancy, complicated pregnancies). In Center for Comprehensive Perinatal Medicine, we accept 70 to 100 maternal transfer cases per year. For more information, please see Center for Comprehensive Perinatal Medicine page.
Reproduction/endocrine
Infertility: We provide general infertility tests (hormone tests, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy, semen tests, etc.), general infertility treatments (timing therapy, artificial insemination), and in vitro fertilization (including intracytoplasmic sperm injection).
Recurrent infertility: When a woman is unable to have a baby due to two or more miscarriages or stillbirths, blood tests (antiphospholipid antibodies, coagulation system tests, antinuclear antibodies, etc.) are mainly performed.

Other: We perform endoscopic surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy) for benign diseases such as hydrosalpinx, uterine and vaginal malformations, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids, as well as gynecological emergencies such as ectopic pregnancy.
Main medical achievements
Gynecological tumors
In 2023, we performed a total of 237 gynecological cancer surgeries, of which 116 were minimally invasive surgeries using laparoscopy or robots. We perform anti-cancer drug treatments for a total of more than 800 cases per year.
Obstetrics
The number of high-risk deliveries is increasing, and the rate of cesarean sections is also exceeding 50%.
Reproduction/endocrine
The number of egg retrieval and embryo transfer procedures is as shown in the table. The number of in vitro fertilization procedures has increased after insurance coverage.
